About this Project

Ka Papa Kuhikuhi Poʻe Unuhi is a collaboration between the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement (CNHA) and Kanaeokana and is co-managed as a service to the lāhui.

It is an online directory of professional Hawaiian language translators created to help meet the growing demand from the government and private sectors to have websites, technical documents, signage, and public notices, etc. translated into Hawaiian. Launching this directory will provide a long overdue listing of professional translators, and is closely aligned with CNHA's mission to enhance the cultural, economic, political, and community development of Native Hawaiians. It also provides an opportunity for Kanaeokana to address one of its strategic goals: normalization of ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi in all sectors of society.

Government entities can use this directory to quickly identify businesses that provide translation services for technical and vital documents, including documents subject to translation under language access laws such as Chapter 321C, Hawaiʻi Revised Statutes.
